‘Bangabandhu's Sonar Bangla will be realised’

News Report The Sonar Bangla dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman would be realised under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, defying all obstacles, said State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Fazilatunnesa Indira. "We have to march forward defying all conspiracies to build Sonar Bangla," she said while addressing as chief guest 'Bangabandhu Memorial Award-2020'-giving ceremony-on Friday night . Bangabandhu Froundation, USA, orgnised the event at RC Majumder Auditorium of Dhaka University on the campus to mark the Mujib-Year. Member of Parliament Monira Sultana and Mohammad Alauddin were present as special guests. Former Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique was present as the chief speaker at the function. Bangabandhu Froundation, USA, Bangladesh Committee Executive President Jakir Hossen Khan gave the welcome speech. Founder and president Bangabandhu Froundation, USA, presided over the function. The State Minister said the defeated evil forces do not sit idle, they are conspiring at home and abroad. The country is moving forward towards development and progress under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, said Indira. The state minister briefly highlighted Bangladesh's growth and development achievements in various fields under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government inspired by Bangabandhu's development aspirations and policy guidelines for which she was honoured with many international awards. She also briefed the meeting of Bangabandhu's diplomatic achievements between 1972-75 towards Bangladesh's international recognition and specially securing membership in the UN. She also urged all to work together to materialise the dream of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for building the country as "Sonar Bangla". "The Father of the Nation had a dream to turn the country into Sonar Bangla. Our responsibility and target will be to work to implement his dream. If it is done, his [Bangabandhu] departed soul will find peace," she said. She said killers of Bangabandhu were not brought to justice, instead they were rewarded by Ziaur Rahman. Zia not only gave them indemnity, but also inducted them into the foreign ministry and sent them out to represent Bangladesh as diplomats. She urged the expatriates to invest more to help establish a developed and prosperous nation. The organisation awarded 15 intellectuals in different categories. The awardees are: Freedom fighter Anwar-Ul-Alam, Former Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique, renowned poet Selina Hossen, singer Rejwana Chowdhury Bonna, Indian singer Nabanita Bhattacharya, actress Anwara Begum, National press Club General Secretary Farida Yasmin, Bangladesh Mohila League president Alhaj Safia Khatun, former secretary Siraj Uddin Ahmed, prime minister personal doctor Professor Dr. Sayeda Surya Akbar, Bangladesh Bank managing director Kazi Alamgir, sports organiser Rehana Parveen, artist Rakhi Biswas and social worker Mushtari Begum.
