Sikder Hospital launches keyhole cardiac surgery

ZH Sikder Women’s Medical College Hospital has launched “keyhole cardiac surgery” and modern neuro treatment facilities as two separate teams—one led by eminent Indian cardio thoracic surgeon Dr Lokesh BM and the other by neurosurgeon Dr Hariprakash Chakravarthy—have joined the hospital, reports UNB. Principal of the college Dr Saiz Uddin Kabir on Monday introduced both the doctors at a press conference on the hospital’s main campus at Monica Estate of West Dhanmondi in the city. Dr Lokesh said he has already conducted over 50 complex heart surgeries at ZH Sikder Women’s Medical College Hospital with zero percent mortality using the new method of keyhole cardiac surgery. Making presentation on the issue, he said this method does not require open heart surgery. The cardio thoracic surgeon said the hospital will offer the keyhole cardiac surgery at a very low cost which will be below Tk 2.5 lakh under a package. But the poor patients will get concession in the cost, he added. Earlier, Dr Lokesh worked for the Manipal Hospital, Apollo Hospital and Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology in India. He joined ZH Sikder Medical College Hospital as the Chief Cardio Thoracic & Vascular Surgeon and as the Hospital Administrator. Dr Hariprakash, who joined the hospital as the Chief Brain & Spine Surgeon at its Neurosciences Institute, is a neurosurgeon from Bangalore of India. He has over 10 years of experience in treating neurosurgical patients and has been trained under some of the best neurosurgeons across the world. He said a neuro surgery will cost about Tk 80,000 under a package while poor patients may get concession over the cost.
