Ctg Field hospitals, Isolation Centers face clotures

Chattogram Bureau Field hospitals and isolation centres built to serve Covid-19 patients are set to be closed due to financial crisis. A field hospital and two isolation centres in the city have already put up the shutters owing to shortage of finance and patients. The condition of other similar establishments is almost the same, concerend sources said. According to relevant sources, Chattogram city corporation and private initiatives set up 6 field hospitals and isolation centers in last 5 months of which one field hospital and two isolation centers have stopped operation. 4 more field hospitals and isolation centers are still operating without patients and funds. Concerned parties said if there were any patients at the establishments, the supply of money could be ensured in some way. However, due to absence of patient, the institutions will have to be shut down. From the very beginning, the Al Manahil Foundation volunteered for burial. Al Manahil Nurture Hospital was built at the initiative of this foundation. The Patenga-EPZ Field Hospital was set up at a school in Patenga to facilitate the treatment of corona patients. The hospital was established at the initiative of Cardiologist Dr. Hossain Ahmed. The 50- bed hospital currently has an outpatient department. Dr. Hossain Ahmed said that there are not sufficient patients in the hospital. Even if there is no patient, incidental expenses are being incurred. Since there are no patients, I am thinking of reducing the cost of the hospital. There is a meeting of the hospital management committee on September 20. The meeting will decide whether the hospital will be closed or not. The Mukti Isolation Center was set up at the initiative of Awami League city mayoral candidate Rezaul Karim. The 60-bed isolation center was inaugurated at the Wedding Park Community Center of Bakalia Tulatali in the city. Iftekhar Kamal Khan, coordinator of Mukti Karona Isolation Center, told the media that the number of patients in our isolation center is insignificant. The isolation center will remain open as long as there are patients, even if there is a plan to close. Earlier, Chattogram Field Hospital in Salimpur, City Corporation Isolation Center in Agrabad and Corona Isolation Center, Chattogram were closed yesterday.
