Illegal gas lines cut in Narayanganj

Officials from Titas Gas disconnecting News Desk Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd cut approximately 200 metres of illegal gas pipelines and repaired faulty lines in a day-long drive in Narayanganj on Tuesday. Md Rabiul Islam, manager of Titas Gas, Fatullah zone confirmed the information. “We found numerous leaking gas pipelines which can be fatal. But if consumers do not let us know about these problems, how can we try to provide service?” said the official leading the visit. However, locals said most of the illegal lines were provided under the influence of local influentials, brokers, and some corrupt officials of Titas. The blast took place at Baitus Salah Jame Mosque in Narayanganj’s Fatullah area during Isha prayers on the night of September 4. The explosion claimed 31 lives till Thursday last. At least 40 were injured in the blast and 37 of them were rushed to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in the capital. So far, just one of them has been discharged from the hospital.
