Move to build a gridlock free, disciplined city

CMP Traffic, CCC to work jointly: Sujon

Chattogram Bureau Chattogram city is increasingly a growing metropolis where series of development works and changes are in progress. People from across the country rush to this city on different occasions and a good many settle permanently. As a result, there has been a subsequent increase in the populace of the city leading to many articial problems as smooth movement, random plying of vehicles, unplanned traffic management and improper attention to law and order situation. Hence, we are committed to build a congestion free, clean and disciplined city with coordinated move of Traffic Department of CMP and Chattogram City Corporation(CCC). CCC Administrator Alhaj Mohammed Khorshed Alam made these observations while speaking at a meeting with officials of CMP Traffic Department at the conference hall of the corporation on Tuesday. He also focused on the issues of ramdom road cutting by government utility agencies, parking of rickshaws at city turnings, plying of faulty vehicles, plying of heavy trucks at daytime and stressed the importance of taking steps to address these issues. “ Running trade by occupying portions of footpaths has become a major problem for movement in the city,” Sujon said as he urged concerned sections to join hands to solve the problem. Traffic Department of CMP presented some proposals to address traffic congestion to which city administrator agreed and he offered to work together in the implementation of the plan. Moreover, a special prayer was offered at the meeting for police personnel who died working on the frontline during Covid-19. CCC CEO Md. Samshudduha, secretary Abu Shahed Chowdhury, Chief Engineer Lt. Colonel Sohel Ahmed, CCC administrator’s private secretary Mohammed Abul Hashem, Chief town planner AKM Rezaul Karim, DC Traffic South Md. Shahidullah, DC Traffic West Joinul Abedin, ADC Traffic North Ukko Singh, ADC Traffic Port Alok Biswas, ADC Traffic West Chatrado Tripura and Architect Abdullah were present on the occasion.
