Workers get Tk 16.50 lakh govt assistance in Khulna

KHULNA, June 2: At least 41 sick, jobless, low-income and destitute workers and their families today received Taka 16.50 lakh government assistance here in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, reports BSS. Divisional Commissioner Dr. Muhammad Anwar Hossain Howlader handed over the cheques to the workers of different classes and professions including destitute, sick and low income workers in Khulna, Jashore, Satkhira and Bagerhat districts at the premises of the Divisional Commissioner Office. Under the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Bangladesh Sramik Kallyan Foundation has taken the initiative to give the assistance to the workers. Director of the Directorate of Labour in Khulna division Md Mizanur Rahman was present the distribution function. Besides, around Taka 32.15 lakh have been distributed among 105 jute mill workers and their families, jobless, needy, sick, and destitute people in different professions in different districts in Khulna division under Bangladesh Sramik Kallyan Foundation. Bangladesh Navy personnel separately distributed relief materials among the destitute people in different coastal belt upazilas and sprayed germicides on different roads in Barguna and Bagerhat districts.
