Bid to increase birth registration in Rangamati

Our Correspondent: RANGAMATI, Feb 14: A coordination meeting on 'Strengthening coordination between health, family planning and local government departments' was held in the conference room of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board in the district recently. Rangamati Zila Parishad Chairman Brihoketu Chakma was chief guest at the meeting that was aimed to increase the birth registration rate. Additional District Commissioner S M Shafi Kamran and Family Planning Division Deputy Director Begum Sahanwaj spoke at the meeting held with District Civil Surgeon Dr. Shahid Talukder in the chair. According to the law of 2004, every birth is to be registered within 45. Birth registration of children is a valuable document for education and all official matters including its immunisation. At the coordination meeting organised by the Department of Health, 35 participants including people's representatives, government officials, representatives of local government organisations, and NGO representatives, took part.
