Protesters ready to submit 'graft’ proof' to ministry

News Desk Jahangirnagar University siege by students is going on for VC's exit. Protesting students have announced three fresh programmes as part of their ongoing demonstrations demanding resignation of the university's Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Farzana Islam. The fresh programmes were announced in a press briefing in front of Arts building of the university around 7:30pm on Friday. Shakil Uzzaman, convener of Bangladesh General Students Rights Reservation Council, announced the programmes. He said, "Sit-in programmes will be observed on Friday night demanding for opening female students' hall. A two-member delegation will go to Education Ministry to provide documents over VC's corruption." Besides, a protest procession with the photograph painted over the movement will be brought out at 4:00pm on Saturday. The photograph will be set up on Dhaka-Aricha highway after the procession, he added. Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni on Friday said action will be taken if allegations of irregularities found true against anyone involved with irregularities at the universities. Mentioning about unrests at some universities, she said "The proper documents and evidences will have to give when anyone made allegation against anyone, then the action will be taken after found allegations true during probe." Moni came up with the remarks while addressing as chief guest at final round and prize giving ceremony of the 8th English Medium Math Olympiad-2019 held at United International University (UIU) in the capital.
