BD nurses to combat dengue

News report: National Institute of Advanced Nursing Education and Research (NIANER) in collaboration with Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and KOICA Bangladesh Alumni Association (KBAA), jointly held an event on “Dengue Prevention Awareness Program" at Zannat Bagh, Mugda, Dhaka on Sunday, said a press release. The occasion was graced by Saber Hossain Chowdhury, MP and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Joe Hyun-Gue, Country Director, KOICA Bangladesh Office, ABM Shirajul Islam, Councilor, Ward No.06, Dhaka South City Corporation and Hamima Umme Morsheda, Director, NIANER among others. Recently Bangladesh has been plagued by dengue outbreak affecting about 91,000 citizens to which the government launched initiatives to control the spread and through effective actions the severity has decreased. In this light, KOICA together with NIANER attempted to address this issue by holding a rally and marching towards the targeted slum areas distributing leaflets and mosquito nets to community people of Mugda led by MP Saber Hossain. The event also consisted of knowledge sharing presentations from faculty and nursing students of NIANER and World Friends Korea Volunteer on combating dengue and preventing parasitic worms in children.
