Govt to celebrate Bangabandhu's birth centenary globally

The government has taken an initiative to come up with elaborate programmes through preparing an international calendar to globally celebrate the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, reports UNB. The third meeting of the sub-committee on international programmes and communications, held at the International Language Institute on Sunday, conveyed that publication of an international calendar is underway. Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmad, former foreign minister and chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance Ministry AH Mahmood Ali, Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs Faruk Khan, birth centenary celebrations committee convener Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque, former foreign secretary Mohiuddin Ahmad, former ambassador Muhammad Zamir, among others, were present at the meeting chaired by Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen. The meeting reviewed the progress of preparations for birth centenary celebrations beginning on March 17, 2020, which will end on March 2021. The committee hoped that heads of states and governments of different countries, global political personalities and internationally renowned figures will attend the celebrations.
