Tk 9 lakh cr siphoned off, says Menon

News Report Workers Party president Rashed Khan Menon on Monday said some Tk 9 lakh crores have been siphoned off abroad from the country in the last 10 years. "As far as I know, some Tk 9 lakh crore has so far been siphoned off and former Finance Minister AMA Muhith also admitted that Tk 5.25 lakh crore has been taken out of the country with which a national budget can be formulated," he said. Menon was addressing Gazipur district unit council of Workers Party at Bangataj Auditorium in Gazipur city as the chief guest. "The Prime Minister has become a role model of development, but only five percent people are the beneficiaries of development," said Menon. "Those who run casino business are intruders into the party [alliance] and loan defaulters. They have accumulated huge money and built second homes in different foreign countries including Canada and Malaysia with that stolen money," he said. "The Prime Minister has launched a drive against the looters, wrongdoers, corrupts. Don't spare them as their roots are deep. They've become too powerful and careless to destabilise the social security and harmony," he said. "Now it's time to remove discriminations from society and build a modern and secular Bangladesh being imbued with the Liberation War spirit," Memon said.
