Bangladesh reach final of recurve men's team event

Bangladesh Archery team comprising of Mohammad Ruman Shana, Tamimul Islam and Hakim Ahmed Rubel advanced to the recurve men's team event final of the Asia Cup-World Ranking Archery Tournament (Stage-3) beating Khairul Anuar Mohamad, Muhammad Akmal Nor Hasrin and Muhamad Zarif Syahiir Zolkepeli of Malaysia by 5-3 set points in the semifinal in the Clark City of the Philippines on Thursday, reports UNB. The Bangladesh team sponsored by Modhumoti Bank Ltd will play the final against Chinese team comprising of Xiangshuo Qi, Zhenqi Shi and La Ta on Friday at 8:30 am (BST). Earlier, Bangladesh recurve men's team beat Witthaya Thamwong, Tanapat Pathairat and Denchai Thepna of Thailand by 5-3 set points in the quarterfinal on Thursday at the same venue. Bangladeshi celebrated archer Mohammad Rumon Shana will play gold medal-deciding recurve men's singles final against Shi Zhengi of China at 12:25 pm (BST). In the recurve mixed team event, Bangladesh team comprising of Ruman Shana and Beauty Rai conceded a 0-6 set points defeat against Xinyan Zhang and Xiangshuo Qi of China in the semifinal at the same venue on Thursday. Shana and Beauty will play in the Bronze medal match against Yu-Chen Yeh and Zih-Siang Lin of Chinese Taipei on Friday at 10:45 am (BST). In the day's recurve mixed team quarterfinal, Bangladeshi archers beat Waraporn Phutdee and Witthaya Thamwong of Thailand by 5-1 set points. Earlier on Sunday, a six-member Bangladesh National Archery team reached Clark city of the Philippines to compete in the Asian meet. Earlier,Bangladeshi celebrated archer Mohammad Rumon Shana advanced to the recurve men's singles final of the Asia Cup-World Ranking Archery Tournament beating Ta La of China by 6-4 set points in the semifinal in the Clark city of Philippines on Wednesday. Ruman Shana will play final against Shi Zhengi of China on Friday (Sept 13) at 12:25 pm (Bangladesh Time). On the way to the final, Ruman Shana beat Thiha Htet Zaw of Myanmar by 6-0 sets in the round of 16, defeated Thepna Denchai of Thailand also by 6-0 sets points in the round of eight and outplayed Yang Huie Jhe of Chinese Taipei by 7-1 sets points in the quarterfinal. In the qualification round of the men's recurve division, Ruman Shana was placed 2nd among the 38 archers of 12 countries scoring 671 out of 720.
