Chevron distributes school items

Chevron Bangladesh has recently partnered with Dhaka Ladies Club to distribute school items amongst 278 underprivileged students. These children, of whom 60 percent are girls, are students aged 5-14 from nine charity schools in various locations of Dhaka, said a press release. Collectively known as 'KushumKoli' schools, administered by the club's social welfare committee and founded in 1985, these schools follow the curriculum mandated by the Directorate of Primary Education. The distribution ceremony, in which students received school uniforms, bags, footwear and stationery items, was held on the premises of the Dhaka Ladies Club in Eskaton Gardens. Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen attended the programme as the chief guest while US Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl Robert Miller and Chevron Bangladesh president Neil Menzies were special guests. Ismail Chowdhury, Chevron's director of corporate affairs, and Mahbuba Kabir Rumjhum, president of Dhaka Ladies Club, were also present on the occasion.
