Afghan national day reception held in city

News Report Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni said that Bangladesh has a long history and close relations with Afghanistan. Dr Dipu Moni was speaking as the chief guest at reception marking the 100th anniversary of independence of Afghanistan at a city hotel on Sunday. Afghanistan was one of the first countries to recognize Bangladesh after the independence. She also stressed strengthening the ties with chambers of commerce of the two countries. Dr Dipu Moni put emphasis on strengthening trade relations between Dhaka and Kabul. Bangladesh gives value its relation with neighbours. Bangladesh imports huge dry food items from Afghanistan and Afghanistan can import high quality medicines from Bangladesh. The education minister cited the government’s commitment is to make Bangladesh a poverty- and hunger-free country and fulfill the basic needs of people as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Since coming to power in 2009, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working hard to materailise the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to turn this country into Sonar Bangla, said Dr Dipu Moni Afghan Ambassador in Bangladesh Abdul Qayoom Malikad hosted the reception marking the 100th anniversary of independence of Afghanistan at a city hotel on Sunday.
