FIDE Asian Zone 3.2 champion FM Mohammad Fahad Rahman will compete in the FIDE World Chess Cup that begins today (Tuesday) at Khanty-Mansiysk in Russia, reports BSS. FM Fahad qualified in this event from Zonal 3.2 champion, which was held last March in Dhaka. FM Fahad, who left for Russia on Sunday last, will play in first round match against second seeded player of the event and fourth highest rated player in world GM Anish Giri of Netherlands. FM Fahad will take part two games against GM Anish and he needs to beat him to qualify in the second round. FIDE president appointed International Haroon Or Rashid as arbiter of the FIDE World Chess Cup.
