Khalid calls for considering population as resource

MYMENSINGH, July 12: State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid MP here Thursday said, country's population should not be treated as problem but resource, reports BSS. Khalid said this while addressing a discussion on World Population Day 2019 today. Divisional and district family planning office arranged the discussion at Tareque Smriti auditorium here. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly to make the country's population as human resources. Bangladeshi nationals are sending huge remittance from abroad every year, he said. Director of Divisional Family Planning Office Abdul Awal was in the chair while Divisional Commissioner Mahmudul Hassan, DIG Mymensingh Range Nibash Chandra Maji, Deputy Commissioner Mizanur Rahman and senior officials spoke on the occasion. Minister said, Bangladesh gained significant progress in reducing population growth and improving maternal and child health. He urged the officials and employees of family planning office to work sincerely for ensure quality family planning services to the couples. Later the state minister distributed prizes among the best performers of family planning employees of the Mymensingh Division. On the occasion a colourful procession was also brought out in the city.
