World Population Day observed in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, July 12: The World Population Day was observed in the port city as elsewhere across the country here on Thursday. To mark the day, Divisional and district family planning offices organized rallies and discussion meetings. Divisional and district family planning offices arranged a discussion on the theme of the day on "25 years of the CCPD: accelerating the promise" at Shilpakola Academy auditorium, reports BSS. Earlier, a colorful rally was brought out from the Circuit House premises, which concluded at Shilpakola academy after parading different important city streets. Addressing the discussion meetings, the speakers said the country's population should not be treated as a problem rather they should be turned into skilled human resources. They stressed on building awareness about adolescent health and family planning. Deputy Commissioner of Chatogram Mohammad Ilias Hossain presided over the function while Additional Divisional Commissioner of Mahmudul Hasan Nizami addressed the discussion meeting as chief guest. Dr Hasan Shahrier Kabir, director health, Chattogram division, officials of Divisional Family Planning, civil Surgeon Office and other senior officials spoke on the occasion.
