Noshin emerges champion in nat'l jr chess

WCM Noshin Anjum of Elegant International Chess Academy emerged champion in the girls' section of the WALTON 39th National Junior (Under-20) Chess Championships open and girls now being held at Chess Federation hall-room in the city, reports BSS. WCM Noshin earned maximum 7 points after 7th or penultimate round games to clinch the title. Walijah Ahmed of Elegant International Chess Academy placed at 2nd position with 6 points and Kazi Zarin Tasnim finished at 3rd position with 5 points after 7th round games. Meanwhile, FM Mohammad Fahad Rahman of Pirojpur took solo lead in the points table with 6.5 points after 7th round games in the Open section. CM Subrota Biswas of Mymensingh, Swarnavo Chowdhury, Sadanan Hasan Dihan of Elegant International Chess Academy and Yasir Ali Khan Evan are sharing the 2nd position with 5.5 points. Dibakar Dibya, Mortuza Mahathir Islam, Nafim Al Karim, Mahin Ahmed Shuvo, Anower Hossain and Mohammad Shafiqul Islam are sharing 3rd position with 5 points. The 7th or penultimate round games of both sections were held today (Tuesday). In Open section, FM Fahad beat CM Subrota, Swarnavo drew with Evan, Dihan beat CM Manon Reja Neer, Dibakar beat Md. Sajidul Islam, Mahathir beat Ashabubur Rahman Taif, Nafim beat Mahfuzur Rahman Saif, Shuvo beat Mortuza Muhtadi Islam, Anower beat Marzouq Chowdhury and Shafiq beat Md Azmaeen Parvez Sayor. In the girl's section, WCM Noshin beat Warsia Khusbu, Walijah beat Israt Jahan Diba, Zarin beat Tasnia Tarannum Orpa. The 8th or last round games will be held tomorrow (Wednesday) at the same venue.
