8 jailed, as many coaching centres sealed in city

News Report : Six coaching centres running business defying government's ban during the month of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations were sealed on Sunday. A mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) carried out the raid and awarded jail for a month to eight persons involved for defiance of the ban. Executive magistrate of Rab-2 Sarwar Alam sealed off Nabadiganta Academy, Joy Jatra, Onanya and Blaze coaching centres during a drive on Sunday. In Farmgate, the team sealed Moy Dick coaching centre. Owners of the coaching centres were running business by hanging a "closed" sign on the main gates, according to Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam. "Many students complained that the teachers don't take proper care in schools. I will report this to the ministry," Sarwar Alam said. Meanwhile, Education Minister Dipu Moni on Sunday said that the government will take all necessary measures to improve the standard of education in the country. "I will do whatever necessary to improve the education system. Another issue is standard of education which I'm giving the utmost priority and have taken it as a challenge to enhance its quality", she said. The minister came up with the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a programme organised by Bangladesh Education Reporters Forum at National Academy for Educational Management (Naem) auditorium in New Market area.
