7 killed in road accidents

News Desk At least seven people were killed and several others injured in separate road crashes in Narsingdi and Savar on Friday. At least four people were killed and 11others injured in a head on collision between two buses at Sayadnagor area on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway under Shibpur upazila in Narsingdi district. Police said the accident occurred at about 11 am when a Brahmanbaria bound Royal paribahan from Dhaka collided head on with a local Madhobdi bound bus from Shibpur leaving two persons dead on the spot. Two critically injured were succumbed to their injuries on the way of Narsingdi Zila hospital. The 11 injured rushed to Narsingdi zilla hospital, of them eight were transferred to Dhaka Medical College hospital. Of the four dead three were identified as local bus driver Anwar Hossain, 45, Alauddin, 60, Rahana Begum, 44, and one unidentified male, 55. Police seized both the bus but the driver of Royal paribahan managed to escape. A case was field with Shibpur police station in the connection. Meanwhile, three motorcycle riders have been killed as a bus hit their motorbike at Dhamrai in Savar. The incident took place near Joypura bus stand on Dhaka-Aricha highway around 4:00pm on Friday. The deceased, aged 25 to 30 years, could not be identified immediately. Sahab Uddin, station officer of Dhamrai Fire Service said a Shuvajatra Paribahan Manikganj-bound bus from Dhaka hit a Pulsar motorcycle while overtaking, leaving its three riders dead on the spot. Deepak Shaha, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dhamrai Police Station, confirmed the news. Driver fled the scene, leaving the bus on the spot, he added. (Inputs taken from BSS, online)
