Short film fest begins today

The eight-day "Bangladesh Short and Documentary Film Festival 2018" will begin today (Saturday) at 64 districts simultaneously across the country, reports BSS. Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor will inaugurate the festival at 5 pm at National Chitrashala Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA). Shilpakala Academy is organising the festival. A five-member jury committee will review a total of 70 films this year, he added. The committee selected 48 short films and 22 documentary films for screening in this year's festival. Of the selected films, 'Best Film' will get Tk 1 lakh, 'Best Filmmaker' will get Tk 50,000 and 'special jury award' will get Tk 25,000 for both short films and documentary films. Announcement of the awardees will be declared on the concluding day of the festival on December 15.
