JS body for new law to bring dynamism in JDPC

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Textile and Jute Thursday recommended accelerating the process of formulating a new law for setting up a permanent structure in the Jute Diversification Promotion Centre (JDPC) aiming to bring dynamism in the activities of the centre, reports BSS. The committee came up with the recommendation at its 34th meeting held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with its Chairman Saber Hossain Chowdhury in the chair. Textile and Jute Minister Md Emaz Uddin Pramanik and committee members Fahmi Gulandaz Babel and Sabina Akter Tuhin attended the meeting. The parliamentary watchdog also suggested completing the works of 'Sonali Bag Project' within few months by forming a monitoring agency like taskforce. It asked the Textile and Jute Ministry to provide necessary allocation to the jute mills for buying jutes to keep the mills operational and take necessary steps to implement the cabinet committee's decision properly. As per the cabinet committee's decision, the government agencies are supposed to buy 50 percent of their required jute bags from the Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC). Senior officials of the Textile and Jute Ministry and other officials concerned were present at the meeting.
