Upgradation of curriculum, education system stressed

News Report Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid has stressed the need for upgradation of curriculum and education system to make the future generation capable and fit for the advanced world. The minister came with the observation while speaking at a scholarship awarding ceremony among the children of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) members who achieved GPA-5 in their SSC and HSC examinations in 2018. DRU organised the programme at its Crime Reporters' Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) Auditorium on Friday morning. Nurul Islam Nahid said the government has taken different initiatives to impart quality education to create human resource for building an economically advanced Bangladesh. He said there is huge scope to improve the quality of the country's education and they were working to do so. He said despite a number of challenges, Bangladesh has some remarkable and praiseworthy achievements in the education sector. Distribution of free textbook among the students of primary and secondary levels, increased enrolment rate and eradicating gender inequality in primary and secondary education have already been acknowledged in different international forums, the minister added. Nahid urged the students to acquire time-befitting education to adjust with the changing job markets across the world. Nahid said at least 250 criminals were arrested for their involvement in question paper leak and no one would be speared who are involved in the wrongdoing. He stressed the need for creating strong sense of morality among the new generation alongside their good academic results. Managing Director of South Bangla Agriculture and Commerce Bank Limited Md Golam Faruq and General Secretary of DRU Syed Shukur Ali Shovo, among others, addressed the function with DRU President Saiful Islam in the chair.
