The 40th death anniversary of Matiur Rahman, former chief reporter of the Bangladesh Times and the Weekly Holiday, will be observed today (Friday), says a press release. Khatme Quran and milad mehfil will be held on Friday after Magrib prayer at his sister's residence of Mirpur in the city. Friends, relatives and well-wishers have been requested to attend the milad mehfil. He died of cancer at the age of 37. Before Liberation War, Matiur Rahman joined the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) as public relations chief. Matiur Rahman worked as a stringer of the New York Times. He was also related with Sandhani Prokashani.
