'Robber' beaten dead in Jashore

JASHORE, May 17: A suspected robber was killed in a lynch-mob attack at Majhiali village in Bagharpara upazila early Thursday, reports UNB. The identity of the deceased could not be known yet. Police said a gang of robbers swooped on the house of Mansur Ali and kept the house inmates hostages at gunpoint around 2 am. Sensing presence of the robbers, local people encircled the house and chased the robbers. At one stage, local people caught one of the robbers and gave him a good thrashing, leaving him dead on the spot while the others managed to flee the scene, said in-charge of Khajura Police camp, Masudur. Hazera Begum, 50 and her son's father-in-law Dwin Mohammad were injured as the robbers stabbed them after being resisted. They were taken to a local hospital.
