BNP leader Dudu held

Police arrested senior BNP leader Shamsuzzaman Dudu from the city on Monday, reports UNB. BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said police picked up Shamsuzzaman Dudu near Matshya Bhaban while he was going to join the party's human chain programme in front of the Jatiya Press Club protesting its chief Khaleda Zia imprisonment. After arrest Dudu was taken to Detective Branch office in the city. Meanwhile, the High Court on Monday granted a 10-week interim bail to Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal President Afroza Abbas and its Secretary General Sultana Ahmed in three violence cases filed with Ramna Police Station, reports UNB. An HC bench of Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice Krishna Debnath passed the order after hearing separate petitions. The HC also asked the two top leaders of BNP's women wing to surrender before the lower court after their bail period expires. The cases were filed on charge of obstructing law enforcers from discharging their duties on February 8 after a court sentenced BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to five years' imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust case.
