Traumatised JU fresher unable to recognise father

Our Correspondent JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, Feb 11 (UNB) - A new student of Jahangirnagar University (JU) is unable to recall his father's name and recognise anyone as he was mentally tortured by some senior students during ragging on the campus. Mizanur Rahman, a 1st semester student of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department, got enrolled under session 2017-18, has been undergoing treatment at Enam Medical College Hospital since Friday night. Sources said second semester students of the same department tortured Mizan mentally and physically and forced him to shift his dorm on Wednesday. On Friday night, Mizan fell sick and was rushed to the university medical centre and then Enam Medical College Hospital. Mostafizur Rahman, an associate professor of CSE department said, "We'll recommend the university authorities to give the offenders exemplary punishment." Another report adds: Open space theater of Dhaka staged "12 Angry Men" at the Selim Al Deen Muktamancho of the campus on Saturday evening, reports UNB. Marking the 38th founding anniversary of Jahangirnagar Theater, they arranged the 10-day long inter-university theater festival on the campus to celebrate the programme. The courtroom drama, 12 Angry Men, based on the teleplay of American screen writer Reginald Rose, describes the story of a jury made up of 12 men as they were appointed to take a decision on an 18-year-old-boy whether he is guilty or not on the basis of reasonable doubt. The play has been translated and directed by M Arifur Rahman.
