40,000 graves of FFs to be preserved

The government has decided to preserve 40,000 graves of freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives during the War of Liberation in 1971 with a view to showing respect to the great sons of the nation, reports BSS. “Forty thousands of graves of freedom fighters will be preserved across the country in two phases,” Md Mominur Rahman, assistant chief of Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, told the news agency on Wednesday. In the first phase, a project involving Taka 348 crore to preserve 20,000 graves of the martyred freedom fighters has been taken to pay due respect to the worthy sons of the sacred soil, he added. After the first phase, the government will preserve more 20,000 graves of the martyred in the second phase, he added. To implement the first phase of the programme, a Development Project Proforma (DPP) has already been sent to the Planning Commission for approval which is now under process, Mominur Rahman said. The project is expected to be completed by June in 2019, he added.
