6,500 receive training on ICT from hi-tech park

Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority (BHTPA) has imparted trainings to around 6,500 youths in different areas of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). "We have imparted trainings to around 6,500 youths so far to enable them to get employment capitalizing on their skills in the field of ICT. Of them, around 4,700 trainees have already got jobs under Employment Incentive Program," BHTPA Managing Director Hosne Ara Begum told BSS here today. She said BHTPA has been providing training to youths under Skill Enhancement Program, Mid Level Program, Company Certification Program, C-Level Training Program, Training on Lean Six Sigma, Oracle and Systems Applications and Products (SAP) with a view to developing human resources. Under the "Support to Development of Kaliakair Hi-Tech Park (And Other High-Tech Parks)" project, 40 institutions have been given cooperation to get global certification for capability enhancement. BHTPA sources said certification activities of 38 institutions have already completed. Among those, 24 institutions have get ISO 9001 and three ISO-27001, nine CMMI Level-3, two CMMI Level-5 certifications. The initiative to build hi-tech parks at different places of the country aiming to create employment for 2 lakh people to achieve the goal of earning 5 billion US dollar by 2021 will play an important role to turn the country into a middle income country.
