Plantation of palm tree seeds going on

Our Correspondent NARSINGDI, Oct 13: Plantation of palm tree seeds on the both sides of the roads and embankment in all the six upazilas of the district is going on satisfactorily. Deputy Commissioner Narsingdi Dr Subash Chandra Biswas being instructed from Prime Minister office for plantation plam tree seeds in the country urged the district and upazilas officers in a meeting for planting of palm tree seeds in all the six upazillas of the district. Accordingly the district administration took an initiative to planted over 60,000 palm tree seeds in the district (10,000 in each upazila) and advised the Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNO) and other officials to plant palm seeds enthusiasm. The Deputy Commissioner Subash Chandra Biswas said, the objectives of the palm tree plantation are to maintain the ecological balance, protect the people form thunderbolt (lightning), meet the demand of fruits and nutrition, enhance the beauty of the nature and protect roads from the erosion. The Deputy Commissioner on Wednesday in a function planted 1000 palm tree seeds and few krishnachura trees in the different roads side at Maharpara and Shilmandi union of Narsingdi Sadar Upazila. The DC also urged the locals to nurture the planted seed of the palm tree carefully. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sadar Salim Reza, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mahadhi Hasan, Upazila Krishi Officer,Sadar Abdul Hai Chaiman of Shilmandi UP Abdul Bakir and Chairman of Mahar para UP Mahabubul Hasan were also present in the function.
