ILD-2017 celebrated

RANGPUR, Sept 13: International Literacy Day-2017 was celebrated today here in a befitting manner with a fresh call to ensure education for all, reports BSS. Marking the day, the district administration chalked out elaborate programmes with the theme of ‘Literacy in a Global World’. In the morning, a grand rally, led by Deputy Commissioner Gautam Chandra Pal, was brought out from the Independence Square in the town. The rally paraded the main roads of the town. A discussion meeting was also held at the auditorium of Zilla Shilpakala Academy with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Muhammad Mizanur Rahman in the chair. DC Gautam Chandra Pal addressed the meeting as the chief guest while Additional Police Super Abdullah Al Faruk, Deputy Director of Local Government section of DC office M. Shafiqul Islam were present as special guests. The speakers in their speeches said there is no alternative to literacy for overall development of the country and building Bangladesh a middle-income country by 2021.
