One held with foreign currency worth Taka 25 lakh at HSIA

The officials of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department seized foreign currency worth Taka 25, 46, 805 from a Dubai bound Bangladeshi passenger at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the early hours of on Tuesday, reports BSS. Dr Moinul Khan, director general of the department, told BSS that they intercepted one Mohammad Osman, 44, bearing passport number AG-2178099 in green channel area at about 12:45am when he was about to board on a Dubai-bound flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines. Initially, Osman, a resident of West Gujara village under Raozan upazila of Chittagong district, denied carrying any foreign currency, but in the face of interrogation he confessed his guilt. The Intelligence officials later seized 1,10,150 Saudi Riyal, 1,180 Dirham and 1,000 Omani Real worth about Taka 25,46,805 kept in the packets of beef and vegetables. A case was also lodged against him under Money Laundering Act with Biman Bandar Thana.
