He also underlined the need for making all the concerned familiarized with Right to Information (RTI) law so that the general people can derive its total benefits. The CIC made this observation while addressing a workshop titled "Right to Information (RTI) Law- 2009" at Deans' Complex of Rajshahi University (RU) here today as the chief guest. Group of Liberal Debaters Bangladesh (Gold Bangladesh) in association with Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) organised the event. With President of Gold Bangladesh Sohrab Hossain in the chair, RU Pro-VC Prof Ananda Kumar Shaha, TIB's Director Dr Rizwan-Ul-Alam, CCC President Prof Abdus Salam and Gold Bangladesh Moderator Mamun Abdul Kayum also addressed the workshop. Prof Golam viewed that full-length implementation of the law could be the effective means of ensuring transparency and accountability in field level public services. So, the youths should play as watchdog for successful implementation of the law. Implementation of the RTI Act has become indispensable for empowering common people and making all the service delivery activities transparent and accountable, he added. Terming the RTI Act as the key to development of the mass people, he said the act would facilitate people to become empowered through its successful implementation. Prof Rahman observed that the designated officials of the information-giving government institutions have a vital role to play in this regard.
