Robi dristy debate competition begins

Our Correspondent CHITTAGONG, Aug 13: The country's premiere debate competition 'Robi Dristy Debate Championship' kicked off on Saturday in the city. The competition has reached the silver-jubilee milestone in this year. Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Mayor A J M Nasir Uddin inaugurated the debate competition at the Chittagong Theatre Institute as the Chief Guest. Daily Purbokone's Managing Editor Jasim Uddin Chowdhury, Robi's Vice President, Communication & Corporate Responsibility Ekram Kabir, Sunshine Grammar School's Principal Gazi Safia, CCC's President of Education Standing Committee Nazmul Haq were also present as distinguished guests of the programme. The ceremony was presided over by Dristy Debate's President, Masud Bokul. Dristy Debate's Senior Vice President Saif Chowdhury, General Secretary Saber Shah, Joint Secretary Saifuddin Munna and Organizing Secretary and Coordinator of the championship Kazi Arafat spoke at the inauguration ceremony along with the Chief Guest and the distinguished guests. While playing the national anthem, clips related to Bangladesh's nature, independence war were played. Highlights of the world's most prominent leaders' speech was also shown to motivate the students at the inauguration ceremony. At the end of the inauguration programme, two sessions were organized on Internet4U and Robi 10 Minute School for the students. A total of 410 students attended these lively seminars on education in the digital age. This year, in the 25th episode of school debate competition, 48 teams from 42 schools of Chittagong; in the 14th episode of University debate competition, 32 teams from 24 Universities from across the country and in the first ever English debate competition at the college level, 12 colleges are take part in the Robi-Drishty Debate Competition. In total, 92 teams from 78 educational institutions from across the country, in the 25th episode of the debate competition. The 14 day long debate championship will end on the 26th August.
