3 killed in separate incidents

HABIGANJ, July 17: Three people were killed and three others injured in separate incidents in Madhabpur and Chunarughat upazilas of the district on Sunday night, reports BSS. An unidentified man was killed and three others were injured as two private cars collided head-on in Sahajibazar area on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway of Madhabpur upazila this evening, said Jasim Uddin, officer-in-charge of Shaestaganj Highway Thana. The injured were sent to a local hospital. In another incident, a pickup van passenger was killed when the van hit a roadside tree in Manikpur area of the upazila as its driver lost control over the vehicle on Sunday. The deceased was Tahrimul Islam, 30, son of Jahur Ali, a resident of Tarakandi village in Kishorganj Sadar upazila. Besides, electrician Jahangir Alam, 30, was electrocuted at Hatunda village under Chunarughat upazila of the district this noon. He was the son of Abdul Ali, a resident of the same area. Police said Jahangir was seriously injured as he got electric shock at a house in the area while he was working there. Jahangir was sent to a local hospital where on duty doctors declared him dead. Officer-in-charge of Chunarughat Thana KM Amiruzzaman confirmed the matter.
