Int'l art exhibition begins at DU

A two-day 'International Art Exhibition' began on Thursday at the Zainul Gallery of Fine Art Faculty on Dhaka University (DU) campus, reports BSS. DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest. DU Fine Art Faculty and the Slade School of Fine Art of UCL, UK are organizing the exhibition jointly in cooperation with the British Council, Dhaka. Fine Art Faculty Dean Prof. Nisar Hossain presided over the inaugural session while Country Director of British Council Barbara Wickham and former Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Prof. Dr. Nazrul Islam addressed it as special guests. Professor of DU Sculpture Department Lala Rukh Selim delivered welcome address and Director of the Slade School of Fine Art of UCL Prof. Dr. Susan Collins gave vote of thanks in the function. Addressing the inaugural function, Prof. Arefin Siddique said Dhaka University and British Council have been working together for development of education and research on various subjects, including Fine Art, Journalism and English Learning and Teaching Methods at the university for long time. He thanked the British Council for providing an effective project titled "International Strategic Partnership in Research and Education (INSPIRE)" to DU. He hoped that bi-lateral relationship between DU and British Council as well as Bangladesh and UK would be strengthened further in the days coming ahead.
